Literature Text

Deaf notes Float
Within the silent halls
The Chords are mute
Lack of strings to strum
Yearning for musical bliss
Need sweet lyrical release

Give me a single tune
A Single Line
A song
To ease my mind

Music a source of comfort
Now omitted, causes alarm
How unsettling this can be
To not be able to reach out
And hear but a simple piece
Sung from vocalist lips

I used to be able to hear
Inside my head
A Chorus
A Choir
Humming out the tunes
But now there's nothing but discord

Now all is still
All is quiet
Where is the vocal correlation?
Harmonious fret?
Melodic lines?
A tuneful whisper?

And Then there it is
E Minor's 7th
Sweet Sympathy rejoice
An explosion through my being
Lights up a Euphonic ecstasy
Slowly rising
And reaching the tip of this crescendo

Lyrics and song
In perfect unison
The instruments compliment
Soft touch on piano's tip
Liberated by the lively composition
I love music. I'm always listening to music whenever I get the chance or opportunity. Sometimes, I even feel like the inside of my mind is radio, tuning in and playing songs for me.

However, this poem came to mind, when my mind (as it will) was not playing a tune, or a song, or a hum. And this time I needed it more then ever. See, when emotional things happen to me, I turn to music and poetry (usually both at the same time) I had written about 5 poems already (2 of them are on my Gallery) and was really...really feeling the need for music. I basically yearned for it.

Well I hunted around and apparently I can access Yahoo Music on my work PC. So as I finally got that sweet release... I decided to write about it in poem. And thus this poem was born.

For those of you who want to know what song it was that I first heard after that long wait, well it was "Turpentine - Brandi Carlile".

I sort of contemplated the poem as a song as I wrote it, but that just kept making me laugh and go "How ironic."

I also noted how this poem can somehow be a metaphor for umm... "Mature Activities" (I'm at work so I can't actually type the three letter word)
